This video shows the presentation slides and audio from the Post-Redevelopment Financing Workshop held on October 22nd, 2012. The event was hosted by the Grand Boulevard Initiative as part of the Economic & Housing Opportunities Assessment Phase II. The goal of the workshop was to explore alternative funding mechanisms to redevelopment and case studies. Speakers include Sujata Srivastava, Sarah Graham, and Alison Nemirow of Strategic Economics.
El Camino Real celebrated its 100th year as the first paved highway in California. A celebration was held on the Centennial, August 7, 2012, with dignitaries commemorating the history and future of El Camino Real. Keynote speakers included Congresswoman Jackie Speier, Assemblyman Jerry Hill, Caltrans District 4 Director Bijan Sartipi, San Mateo County Supervisor Adrienne Tissier, and San Bruno Mayor Jim Ruane. The speeches were followed by a historic re-enactment of the 1912 shovel turning and a historic car procession of over 70 cars from 1906 to 2012.

On June 4th, 2012, the Grand Boulevard Initiative held an event with renowned city advisory and active public spaces advocate, Gil Peñalosa. Mr. Peñalosa led the effort to create one of the most successful and celebrated parks and recreation systems in the world when he served as the former Commissioner of Parks, Sports, and Recreation for the City of Bogotá, Colombia.
